The gilding of Paris’s Hôtel de Ville, where the show takes place, seems to be reflected in this new Dries Van Noten collection. Jacquard coats are adorned with gold flowers, finished with fur or mixed with simpler textures such as cotton. Loose-fitting pants tie at the waist and feature large pockets. Sweaters and blouses end with tassels that sway with the body’s movements. Apron petticoats, which add volume to pieces, can also become light capes for evening outings. Of course, the designer’s signature basics are also present, such as the kimono coat and soft pyjama-style suits. Dries Van Noten continues to deploy his eclectic, chic vocabulary. Note the midnight-blue embroidery, loose-fitting Bermuda shorts and long burgundy leather gloves.
