Thanks to film adaptations, superheroes are now the talk of the town.
If you’re a fan or just want to get back to the source, here’s a selection of the best comics of the moment, including “Dark Avengers” (“Marvel Deluxe”), which lets you discover the darker version of the “Avengers” (criminals, rebel heroes, unstable individuals…). At the helm is Norman Osborn, aka the Green Goblin, familiar to readers of “Strange”. This superb album features the first adventure of the Black Avengers (including Wolverine’s son), with guest stars Fatalis and Namor. Next up, the historic confrontation between the Dark Avengers and the X-Men. Action, suspense and a reflection on racism are all on the agenda. Two extraordinary adventures written by Brian Michael Bendis and Matt Fraction, and drawn by Marc Silvestri, Terry Dodson, Luke Ross and Will Conrad.
And don’t miss the new “DC” universe published by Urban Comics, with 3 must-have publications: “Batman Saga”, “Green Lantern Saga” and “DC Saga” (featuring the JLA by Geoff Johns and Jim Lee).
Delcourt is also offering 3 highly original comics. “Brit” and “Super Patriote” are two crazy superheroes created by Rober Kirkman (“Walking Dead”). The first is indestructible but no longer young, and the second, half-cyborg, is trying to save his children, who also have powers! Finally, the 3rd part of the “Paths of Perdition” trilogy (“Dark Night” collection) will delight fans of 70’s film noir. The hero here is a former prisoner of war caught up in a spiral as soon as he returns to the USA. This black-and-white comic-book will keep you on the edge of your seat from cover to cover, thanks to the talent of the Collins-Beatty duo (sensitive souls please).
On the DVD side, while we await the release of “Avengers” in 4 months’ time (we’re talking about a long version), Video Futur is offering a Pass Duo, the only subscription offer that lets you see all the films before they are released on TV (with an unlimited DVD/Blu-ray offer per month and no commitment). A great way to see or review superhero movies.
