The back-to-school “Happening” is undoubtedly taking place in the most Parisian of palaces, Le Bristol Paris.

With the official opening of the “Bar du Bristol”, the famous hotel on rue du Faubourg Saint Honoré – the first to be officially awarded the “Palace” distinction in May 2011 – enters a new era and aims to become the benchmark venue for Parisian parties from the moment it opens.

Designed by renowned architect Pierre-Yves Rochon and Madame Maja Oetker, Le Bar du Bristol, open from 5 p.m. to 2 a.m., 7 days a week, welcomes Parisian and international customers in a decor combining classicism and modernity.

As you enter Le Bar du Bristol, a mural by French artist Thierry Bruet depicting a lush garden is highlighted by daylight from the glass roof. The mural, commissioned especially for Le Bar du Bristol, echoes the authentic 1740 Aubusson tapestry by Charles Pinçon that adorns the bar’s walls. The tapestry depicts a Chinese garden, with graceful pagodas in the distance and a peacock in the foreground.
The atmosphere of the bar itself, enclosed by thick silk curtains for added privacy, evokes that of an English club, with its Versailles oak parquet flooring and splendid, rare 2-piece natural pine panelling, over 100 years old and sourced from Esher, Surrey.

Two bookcases flank a 19th-century Sienna marble fireplace, creating a cosy, warm atmosphere for winter evenings.
For the decor of the Bar du Bristol, the most renowned houses and workshops were called upon to provide the very best. All the materials used are of the highest quality: ochre wing chairs, duck-blue banquettes from the prestigious Venetian house Rubelli, small English “Petworth Chair” armchairs in red or blue leather, leopard fabric from the Manufacture de soieries Le Manach for the Giacometti stools from Maison Porta Romana, touches of red leather for the bar’s high chairs, an imposing double-sided sofa in the center of the room… The materials combine timeless elegance and modernity.
Behind the wood-panelled counter, with its long golden granite top from Montana, a huge mirror becomes a screen every evening, responding to the 18th-century French mirror facing it above the fireplace. Wines and spirits, carefully selected by Chef Barman Maxime Hoerth for their exceptional quality, are displayed in a bespoke bottler. In the lower part of the library, display cases showcase rare bottles of prestigious spirits.
