On a balmy summer’s morning, take to the gardens of the Palais Royal for a fashion show inspired by the aquatic world. Livia S. Stoianova, Yassen V. Samouilov for On Aura Tout Vu presented a fairytale-like collection for Fall-Winter 2010-2011, straight out of the wide-open mouth of a bubble-wrap sea monster.

The designers take us into the infinite depths of the oceans to meet sea monsters with their “Fishing for compliments” collection, blending fantasy, glamour, poetry and femininity in a palette of colors reminiscent of the world of the sea.

On Aura Tout Vu presents an Autumn-Winter 2010-2011 collection of creative richness and finesse, combining Japanese silk, French lace, furs and pearls, in a palette of blues dominated by turquoise, silver-gray, pearlescent tones, gold and a hint of coral. This Haute-Couture collection alternates models with modernized traditional cuts with genuine creations worthy of a fairy-tale character, bringing freshness to an emotionally rich week of shows.

The On Aura Tout Vu woman is an aquatic Venus, a veritable mermaid undulating in her long blue scale gown, a fabulous technical feat given the subtlety and perfection of the embroidery. Taking small steps on the asphalt, she dreams of being able to walk freely to find her Prince Charming. Tortoiseshell is ever-present in a short gray dress, accompanied by an astonishingly realistic fish bag. The scale detail is even reproduced on the sunglasses.

Lace is very much in evidence in this collection, punctuating the bottom of a virginal dress or cape, or playing on transparency by hugging the curves of a dress. It is reinvented in a small asymmetrical top or in a close-fitting dress with thin straps. It becomes spidery, delicately covering the back of a suit vest, enveloping it in discreet glamour.

Marine crystals adorn the sleeves of suits and dresses like tiny jeweled “starfish” to accompany the gait. A few fur tips adorn sea monster heads worn as arm cuffs or on a few shoes. The bare skin of a décolleté back is sublimated by a link of pearls of inimitable finesse and chic. Pearls can be found everywhere, as necklaces or decorating an original, offbeat wedding dress with a few centimeters of seductive lace.

The collection is packed with spectacular creations: here a bolero with crocodile-mouth shoulder pads, there a duck-green velvet bodysuit with fountain spray, while a pair of blue-gray fur thigh-high boots finish off a matching lace top. A fabulous fur cape with high collar in a gradient from white to blue would certainly not have displeased an evil Disney queen. As for this corolla skirt, entirely embroidered with crystals and pearly pearls, it seems to be the ultimate seduction weapon for a marine creature parading in the fresh air of a Parisian garden.

On Aura Tout Vu’s “Fishing for Compliments” Haute-Couture collection is uncomplicated, original and highly creative, playing with the codes of Haute-Couture to stimulate our imagination. The result is a fairy-tale siren song, offering the most precious thing in Haute-Couture: the dream. But it’s up to us to tell the story. Lady Gaga has already written the first chapter…
