Il fashion designer coreano Lie Sang Bong ama descriversi come un “architetto e scultore di abiti”. La moda è per lui un gioco esclusivo con cui può cercare arditamente di avvicinarsi all’infinito e attraverso cui contribuire ad introdurre la Corea nel mercato globale.
Lie Sang Bong, defined by the international press as “the Alexander McQueen Coreano”, combines the strong attraction for the culture of his people with a romantic Western style. Le eroine di film noir degli anni Trenta, il movimento Bauhaus, la relazione tra le diverse culture di Napoleone e Giuseppina Bonaparte, filtrate dalla sua fervida immaginazione, diventano uno straordinario spunto di ispirazione e creazione.
The designer began his career in Seoul with a small business in which a maximum of fifty employees worked. In 1985 he founded the brand that bears his name. In 1993 he attracted the attention of international journalists and printers with his collection “The Reincarnation” presented during the Corean Fashion Week. In 1999 he won the award for best designer of the year. Nel 2002 debutta sulle passerelle parigine.
Lie Sang Bong says: “La moda coreana non è ancora conosciuta e considerata nel mondo; vorrei portare elementi universali e contemporanei del mio popolo nella moda europea.” Poetico e sensibile studioso di nuove forme e tessuti, il designer mescola elementi architettonici con materiali unici ed innovativi, creando look sofisticati.
La nuova collezione primavera/estate 2010 “Gravity Walks ” interpreta la donna come degna discendente della stirpe di Agamennone. Le silhouette degli abiti si articolano abilmente come la corteccia di un guardaroba elegante con dettagli orientati al minimalismo. Ricercatore e sperimentatore di nuove forme, Lie Sang Bong propone abiti-tunica stampati, rivisita sahariane e trench, crea tubini attraverso morbide pieghe di tessuto nei colori sabbia e terra. The thread is made of capes whose movement is suggested by interesting strutures in iron wire plasmated on the body.
The designer distinguishes himself also for the architectural dimension of his “sculpture” abiti that brings the woman to an art work.
