Lithuanian cultural heritage is the starting point of Juozas Statkevičius’s Spring-Summer 2027 collection, in which national motifs are reinvented in contact with contemporary art and technological innovation. The designer places traditional decorative art at the heart of his approach, revisiting it through modern techniques and innovative materials.

Traditional ornaments and ethnic motifs become the foundation of an expressive visual language. Inspired by op art, the designer turns the motifs into a play of optical illusions, accentuating effects of rhythm and movement. The geometric force of the decorative elements thus plays an essential part in the composition of the collection. The colour palette is deliberately minimalist, pairing black with a distinctive shade of yellow-green, reminiscent of a still-unripe banana. This contrast brings an unexpected freshness to the traditional motifs while underlining their graphic dimension. The restraint of the colours allows the ornaments, textures and interactions between the different elements to stand out. The designer does not, however, seek to reproduce traditional costumes literally, nor to draw on the past for a form of nostalgia. On the contrary, cultural memory becomes the foundation of a contemporary artistic expression, in tune with the dynamism of today’s world. Artisanal traditions and technological advances are not opposed, but belong to a single creative vision. The silhouettes imagined are addressed to a contemporary woman who asserts her individuality and her taste for personal expression, while remaining attached to her cultural roots.

This coherent artistic approach reflects the attachment of the house of Juozas Statkevičius to the harmony of the silhouette and the authenticity of execution. The collection also extends the dialogue that the designer has maintained for many years with the arts, at the crossroads of craftsmanship, stage expressiveness and visual composition.
