In an unforgettable fashion spectacle, Casablanca unveiled its eighth collection, “Venus as a Boy”, at Paris Fashion Week, offering a poignant reverence to the craftsmanship and weaving at the heart of the brand’s identity. The collection is a moving tribute to the art of fabric-making, while lamenting its waning appreciation in the modern world. Inspired by the loom and threads, Benmoyal has designed an immersive experience with 300 mini-looms sent out as invitations and a staging evoking a giant loom. Against this backdrop, mannequins, adorned in unique woven fabrics from head to toe, including a collaboration with Dr. Martens, paraded, while weavers demonstrated their skills among the spectators. Focusing on pushing the boundaries of textile design, the collection featured 35 looks, including the rebirth of Benmoyal’s iconic fabric made from recycled cassettes, redesigned with a touch of faux snakeskin.
Through its latest collection, Benmoyal invites the public to rediscover the beauty and complexity of fabric manufacturing, ensuring its sustainability in a constantly evolving industry.
Special thanks go to Dr. Martens for fitting all the models, and to EMBRYOLISSE and MAKE UP FOREVER for their support. EMBRYOLISSE took care of skin care for all the models, while MAKE UP FOREVER, a collective of make-up artists creating high-performance products, leveraged its creativity to inspire, liberate and magnify the uniqueness of each individual.
Benjamin Benmoyal’s “Venus as a Boy” collection is a powerful testament to the importance of craftsmanship in fashion, reminding us all of the need to preserve these ancestral techniques and appreciate the true value of manual labor.
