Relais de La Dominique, Saint-Emilion Grand Cru, which has existed under this name since 2009, receives the same exacting attention as the grand vin. Since 2014, it has accounted for 45% of production.

Château La Dominique, a 29-hectare Grand Cru Classé in Saint-Emilion, extends over an exceptional terroir alongside the prestigious Châteaux Cheval Blanc, Figeac, La Conseillante and l’Evangile. The first property acquired by Clément Fayat in 1969, it is the flagship of his vineyards. The estate perfectly combines the authenticity of an 18th-century mansion with the modernity of a winery designed by the eminent architect Jean Nouvel. The new high-precision facilities welcomed their first vintage in 2013. A blend of Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon, the wines benefit from the guidance of Michel Rolland.
LE RELAIS DE LA DOMINIQUE 2012, Saint-Emilion Grand Cru
The 2012 vintage was marked by inclement weather. A rainy, cold spring, followed by a dry summer, slowed down the vine’s vegetative cycle. 2012 will be remembered as an atypical year. Le Relais de La Dominique 2012 is the result of a blend of 95% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Franc. Harvesting was entirely manual, from October 8 to 15. The grapes are transferred to temperature-controlled stainless-steel vats. The wines are then aged 50% in one-wine barrels and 50% in vats. On the nose, Relais de La Dominique 2012 reveals fragrances of red fruit, almost morello cherry. On the nose, this cuvée also reveals an attack of fresh, crisp fruit. On the palate, this generous wine has a certain liveliness.
The Relais de La Dominique 2012 is on sale at an average price of 38€.
