Following the success of the “Ask Gudmundur” campaigncampaign, the first human search engine is evolving and going mobile: on November 2, 2015, an interactive billboard will be installed in the heart of Paris, enabling French people to ask Gudmundur Magnus Kristiansson, the campaign’s ambassador, a live question.
Gudmundur, 59, a harbor master from the Westfjords region, invites Parisian pedestrians to meet him from 8:30 a.m. in front of the interactive panel set up in the 6th arrondissement of Paris, at 74, rue Bonaparte. Parisians and tourists alike are invited to ask him their toughest and most extravagant questions. Internet users can also ask their questions about Icelandviasocial networks on Inspired by Iceland’s facebook, twitter and YouTube accounts. These will be broadcast live on the panel.
Last April, Inspired By Iceland launched a unique service on the Internet: Ask Guðmundur, the first human search engine. The service, which aims to inform tourists of the diversity of activities and experiences available across the country and throughout the year, invites the curious from all over the world to ask all their questions aboutIceland via the Inspired By Iceland campaign’s social networks (Twitter, Facebook and YouTube).
More than 1,000 questions were answered in videos, tweets and images. This unique and much-appreciated Icelandic service was led by representatives from each of Iceland’s seven regions, who enthusiastically shared their knowledge with the rest of the world. Each of these representatives had in common the name Guðmundur or Guðmunda, one of the most popular first names in the country, currently borne by over 4,000 men and women.
