Matsuri is a well-known sushi restaurant chain, like many others. However, when you talk to its creator Eric Woog, you quickly realize that you’re not dealing with yet another soulless brand, but rather with a brand run by a passionate man who strives day after day to provide his customers with the very best in Japanese sushi, with an almost obsessive concern for freshness.

Matsuri, a responsible Japanese restaurateur since 1986, recently launched its new menu. To mark the occasion, all 20 restaurants have adopted a new visual identity and a new baseline. A festive and joyful atmosphere guaranteed. In a neat, typically Japanese setting, the chefs prepare sushi, maki, california, sashimi, yakitori, salads and desserts in front of the clientele… Seated facing the conveyor belt, customers are free to compose their own menu, grabbing plates as they please. A playful meal where you can indulge your cravings as the dishes circulate in front of you.

Matsuri are popular festivals in Japan. Processions dedicated to deities, collective dances, float parades… matsuri perpetuate local folklore. Matsuri, backed by its name and its mission as guarantor of Japanese culture, has decided to focus its visual identity on the festival: new “confetti” graphic charter by Inkkuro, new base-line: happy sushi.


Going to Matsuri means having a good time with friends, family or colleagues. Confetti symbolizes this spirit of good humor and conviviality. They can be found on the sidewalk at restaurant entrances, on the front of the restaurant and on all communication media (counter cards, takeaway/delivery cards).

More than a third of the menu has been renewed. Semi-cooked salmon sushi, temaki nori leaf shrimp tempura and avocado, maki soy leaf crudités and fromage frais, matcha green tea cheesecake… the new items reveal all the creativity of the matsuri chefs, while respecting Japanese tradition. The menu remains 90% fresh produce. Plate prices range from €2 to €5. Matsui takes almost military-like care over product freshness and logistics, so you can be sure of eating fresh produce every day.
