Twenty years of influence: the Hublot UEFA Europa League chronograph

Since 2006, Maison Hublot has been deploying its investment strategy within the European soccer ecosystem. In 2026, the presentation of a chronograph limited to 50 pieces translates this sporting diplomacy through a material approach in which the random injection of fiberglass breaks the regularity of carbon.

Temporal and strategic anchoring

Sports partnerships are no longer a simple exercise in visibility; they configure the aesthetics of the object. The year 2026 marks 20 years of the Manufacture’s presence in the soccer industry, a process initiated with the Swiss national team. For the third time in the space of a decade, after the iterations of 2017 and 2023, the company is producing a timepiece specifically dedicated to the UEFA Europa League. However, the object is not mass-produced, but limited to a series of 50 pieces.

The random variation of matter

The case, 42 mm in diameter and 11.90 mm thick, is machined from grade 5 titanium.. This alloy favors an optimal ratio between lightness when worn and structural strength. The case middle features polished finishes, contrasting with the vertical satin-finish applied to the upper face. The uniqueness of this architecture is concentrated in its bezel: a black and anthracite carbon fiber matrix in which orange-tinted glass fibers are incorporated. The assembly process makes the distribution of these filaments unpredictable, endowing each bezel with a strictly non-reproducible pattern. The structure is sealed by six black-plated titanium screws with an H-shaped profile.

Detail : The HUB1153 caliber Timekeeping is regulated by the HUB1153 self-winding chronograph movement. This mechanical engine assembles 269 components, including 39 jewels, and oscillates at a frequency of 4 Hz (28,800 vibrations per hour). It delivers a power reserve measured at 48 hours. Its Swiss lever escapement uses silicon, a non-magnetic material that limits friction. On the black dial with sunray finish, the seconds counter at three o’clock incorporates the European competition logo. .

Ergonomic intent

The choice of these median proportions reflects a logic of use. Julien Tornare, head of the Manufacture, explains that the engineering of the case has been calibrated to offer a chronograph suitable for everyday wear, moving away from the ostentatious volumes often associated with sports watches. A black lined rubber strap, secured by a stainless steel folding clasp, ensures a secure fit on the wrist.

At a time when watch manufacturers are multiplying their worldwide visibility agreements, the stakes are shifting towards the relevance of the object itself. It’s no longer a question of simply affixing a signature to a dial, but of translating the visual identity of an institution through experimental alloys and precision engineering that enrich contemporary watchmaking culture.
