Julie Lansöm makes lamps with her hands.
A photographer for many years and designer of handcrafted decorative objects since 2013, this versatile artist wanders between her camera and her studio. Based in Paris, but born in the South of France just over 25 years ago, Julie’s immoderate love of nature is reflected in her aesthetic. The importance of color, a passion for materials, an authentic approach and a hint of nostalgia.
Sputnik was the name given to the first Russian satellites sent into space in the 1960s, whose lines resembled those of flying saucers and UFOs. Sputnik lamps are inspired by the retro-futuristic spirit of these machines straight out of science fiction books, and more generally by the graphic aesthetics of the 1960s and 1970s. They materialize an artistic path begun by the young artist through photography. Each lamp crystallizes her sensibility, her sense of form and color. A compendium of her universe.
From cutting to weaving to assembly, everything in these lights is handcrafted in Paris. Each lamp is a one-off, a piece of art, the fruit of the young designer’s meticulous and passionate work. The structure is made of painted wood and the wires of high-quality cotton or wool. Some models are ready-to-sell, but the designer works to order.
You can choose:
– the structure (from a range of models)
– the color of the structure
– the color range of the weave.
The range of possibilities is endless, and prices depend on the formula chosen.
