On the Champs-Élysées, it’s often difficult to find a reference address for dining. You can count on Le Napoleone, located on the most beautiful avenue in the world.
That lunchtime, the room was packed. Many businessmen and tourists. This restaurant is housed in the former mansion of the Marquise de la Païva. The Second Empire-style building offers an original setting. This beautiful 300m2 space boasts a superb heated terrace, a first room that opens onto a second via a central staircase. A long, attractive bar can be glimpsed from the perspective. The whole has adopted the codes of the revisited Napoleon III style. The paintings and engravings are inspired by the two Empires and retrace the Napoleonic epic, the pâte de verre light fittings are reminiscent of Art Nouveau, while the gilding and other elegant decorative details give the impression that this setting has always existed.
The menu concocted by Christian Etchebest is abundant and rather classic. The starter is a salmon tartare with avocado. Very good and fresh. A pure delight!
The main course is entrecôte steak – a classic, you might say! A barometer of quality, no doubt. And don’t worry, this restaurateur gets his supplies from Hugo Desnoyer, renowned throughout Paris.
For dessert, fruit salad with a scoop of ice cream is perhaps a less happy choice.
All in all, Le Napoleone is a good brasserie that’s chic, solid and refined. A reliable landmark on the Champs Elysées.
