A cinematic vision of glamour in the Dries Van Noten collection

In its spring–summer 2027 collection, Dries Van Noten explores glamour as a personal pleasure and a way of taking on a new role. The starting point is an actress who leaves the film set to return to everyday life, while keeping the atmosphere of cinema alive in her imagination.

The designer revisits familiar codes of elegance with lightness, irony and an unapologetic nonchalance. The aesthetic of fictional film posters defines the collection’s visual language: the clothes seem to be made up of fragments of different stories, combined with familiar wardrobe pieces. Translucent organza transforms work jackets, jacquards woven with metallic threads find their way into everyday wardrobes, while twinsets, animal prints and pussy-bow blouses sit alongside polo shirts and dresses adorned with imaginary posters. Motifs of stars, flamingos and martini glasses heighten this cinematic atmosphere, while transparent layers create deliberately blurred effects.

The colour palette pairs muted neutrals, powder pinks and makeup-inspired mauves with acid yellows, turquoise shades, oranges and metallic flashes. Brooches, necklaces and pendants in glass and costume jewellery do more than accessorise the looks: they become part of the clothes and shoes, helping to shape each heroine’s character. Pumps with wooden heels, large handheld bags and a mismatched driving glove add expressive details, like so many allusions to scenes from films that do not exist.

Glamour thus emerges as a free play with appearance rather than a strict code of elegance, in which each woman creates her own character.
