With “The Way of the Sea,” TATRAS builds its Spring/Summer 2027 collection around the invisible forces that shape the sea, blending technical materials with references to Hiroshi Sugimoto, presented in Paris as an immersive installation.
Wind and water as a creative language
For Spring/Summer 2027, TATRAS places wind and water at the heart of its collection—not merely as a thematic backdrop, but as two forces that give rise to form: the wind creates transparency, volume, lightness, and movement through sheer technical nylons, flowing silk ripstop fabrics, and sail-inspired constructions, while water introduces a different set of responses—erosion, protection, adaptation, and endurance—translated into piece-dyed cottons, waxed technical surfaces, and lightweight protective membranes.
This duality draws on explicit references: the seascapes of Hiroshi Sugimoto, where the horizon, sky, and water are reduced to their purest forms, and the work of Gualtiero Redivo, whose sail-like structures explore the tension between matter and movement. TATRAS thus creates a collection that conceives of clothing as a physical response to environmental conditions rather than merely as a seasonal silhouette.
A wardrobe organized by fabric rather than by garment
The collection features a complete wardrobe—technical outerwear remains central, but also includes dresses, skirts, pants, knitwear, and lightweight layers designed to transition effortlessly between different environments. The choice of materials is central to the creative vision: waxed technical cottons, super-lightweight matte nylons, fluid silk ripstop, cotton jacquards, and linen-cotton blends, each reacting differently to movement and wear, while embossed cotton stripes introduce an additional dimension of texture.
This exploration of materials, rather than a mere stylistic exercise, reflects the unique position TATRAS occupies at the intersection of technical performance and natural elegance: lightweight padding, piece-dyed cottons, and technical three-layer constructions reinforce the brand’s commitment to performance while maintaining a sense of effortless lightness.
A Parisian installation conceived as an extension of the garment
Presented in Paris, the Spring/Summer 2027 installation extends the collection’s narrative into the physical space: an immersive environment examines the behavior of fabric under tension, exploring how surfaces react to air, pressure, and movement. Wooden walkways and architectural elements guide visitors through a landscape defined by the materials’ responses, across two distinct levels where clothing and the installation coexist in a shared dialogue.
This decision to make the exhibition design a direct extension of the creative concept—rather than merely a backdrop for the presentation—places TATRAS within an approach where the exhibition space itself becomes an object of study—a way to physically experience what the garments convey through their materials.
