Gareth Pugh celebrates his return to London after seven years in Paris at the famous Victoria & Albert Museum. This date also marked the 10th anniversary of his fashion house, a return to his roots for the designer, reflected in this collection mixing love and war. The show kicks off with a film by Ruth Hogben featuring Aymeline Valade in a certain act of liberation… The new women walk with pride, their make-up emblazoned with the red cross (of Saint George) on their heads, in their black coats and jackets with large collars ending in cape, worn with large flared skirts. Corsets play the role of tops, for protective clothing that becomes like armor against the outside world. Gareth Pugh adds applied needles, simply made from a multitude of straws, for a highly successful effect that is both plastic and shiny. And let’s not forget the new sensuality of evening gowns with bare shoulders and backs. Of particular note: a collection entirely in one color, black, but with an incredible energy that marks a new turning point for Gareth Pugh.
