It’s no coincidence that Pouilly Fuissé is world-renowned as the “king” of Mâconnais wines: this exceptional Chardonnay offers multiple facets and a subtlety that enchant connoisseurs. To add another jewel to this king’s crown, the Cave de Charnay-Lès-Mâcon is now offering a new wine: Pouilly Fuissé Domaine Rivet Vieilles Vignes 2013.
These old vines (most of them over a hundred years old), located on the best parcels of Fuissé and cultivated in the purest tradition, make all the difference to the richness of this top-quality wine! Beneath its intense yellow color, this Pouilly Fuissé, a newcomer to the range, is rich in complex scents where mellow oak blends with spicy vanilla and light tobacco. On the palate, the taste of fresh wood is enhanced by toasty notes, which then give way to a touch of honey before finishing on a note of roasted coffee. A great wine, rich and complex, at an affordable price, to be fully appreciated with subtle dishes: scallops, Bresse chicken with cream or trout with almonds, for example.
