O’NEILL AND LES PORTES DU SOLEIL PARTNER UP THIS WINTER SEASON: #RIDEMORE
This winter, O’Neill and the Portes du Soleil ski area are teaming up for a variety of projects: Rides, shows and music.
The Portes du Soleil has always been a favorite spot for Free Ride and Freestyle riders. And it’s no wonder: as one of the world’s largest ski areas, the Portes du Soleil offers immense diversity and almost infinite riding possibilities. From the impressive snowparks of Avoriaz to the pillow between the fir trees of Châtel, via the sunny slopes of Les Gets and Morzine, not forgetting the possibility of taking a helicopter outing over Switzerland, there really is something for every taste and level. Whether you’re a keen parks technician, a powder enthusiast or an occasional rider, you’re bound to find something to suit you.
The diversity of riding combined with a real spirit of welcoming freestyle culture was enough to motivate O’Neill to invest in this area, which is definitely the #RIDEMORE area. This partnership is materialized in three distinct actions: The setting up of the FREE#RIDEMORE ZONE, the organization of 2 Freestyle ski and snowboard demonstration sessions in the center of Avoriaz during the month of February and the setting up of events alongside the Rock the Pistes Festival taking place from March 26 to 30, 2014.
The O’NEILL FREE#RIDEMORE ZONE
The O’NEILL FREE#RIDEMORE ZONE is located on the Zore piste in Super Morzine (between Morzine and Avoriaz) and is aimed at all types of riders. Halfway between banked slalom and freeride, this descent features a series of turns in untracked snow and jumps of varying heights.
Equipped with 2 cameras, and a gantry equipped with a pass recognition system, the O’Neill FREE #RIDEMORE Zone gives you the opportunity to make back-country runs in complete safety, and entirely filmed. The first camera follows you as you carve your curves, while the second immortalizes your jump at the end of the run. You can then retrieve, share and edit your videos by visiting www.oneill.com/zonefreeridemore and/or by activating your video at one of the Portes du Soleil O’Neill retailers: Skiland Avoriaz, Germain Sport Châtel, Mathias Sport Morzine and Contat sport Les Gets.
#RIDEMORE DEMO TOUR
On Thursdays, February 20 and 27, O’Neill and Avoriaz (Portes du Soleil resort) will be organizing freestyle demonstrations starting at 5:30 p.m. near the tourist office, featuring riders from the O’Neill team but not only. We’ll also be inviting some of the best local riders to take part… The program includes jumps, slides and other crazy tricks, as well as a DJ set and giveaways… enough to liven up the après-ski aperitif….
ROCK THE PISTE
O’Neill will be partnering the Rock the Pistes Festival from March 26 to 30, with photo exhibitions, live art and DJ sets organized by the brand in conjunction with the festival…..
