FOLKLORE MASTERPIECES TREASURES OF AN INCA PRINCESS
With a keen eye for humanistic and philosophical themes, the House of FREYWILLE has in the past found inspiration in the great Egyptian, Greek and other periods. For this latest creation, FREYWILLE set its sights on the rich history of the South American continent to find a whole new source of inspiration, leading to its latest creation: Trésors d’une Princesse inca.

Inspired by the customs of the pre-Columbian Tairona (700 to 1550 A.D.) and Narino (800 to 1200 A.D.) tribes, Treasures of an Inca Princess is a mystical collection full of references to joyful, playful symbols. In these 2 cultures, the sun was a central figure of veneration. Gold was worn to connect with the sacred rays of light embodied on earth: by wearing a piece of gold jewelry, these precious rays of sunlight could be captured, re-evaluated and absorbed as vectors of power and fertility.
The importance of this connection can be seen in the craftsmanship and effort that went into creating these objects: jewelry and breastplates were decorated with beautiful symbols and meaningful shapes.
One of the cuirasses made by the Taironas was used as the main source of inspiration for the creation of this collection: it is decorated with multiple symbols such as bird heads, spirals and elaborate braided motifs.
These elements have been worked into a mystical motif in grand feu enamel, full of warm colors such as indigo, red, green and yellow.
These warm tones – easily associated with South America – combine perfectly with the n gold used in this grand feu enamel motif.
The result of this research is an intriguing piece of art featuring rotating symbols used in shamanic rituals, during which they were spun at high speed to stun spectators.
TRESORS D’UNE PRINCESSE INCA – a mystical design filled with shamanic references that might even bewitch fans of grand-feu enamel jewelry!
