HUBLOT CELEBRATES THE LAUNCH OF THE BIG BANG UNICO SPECIAL ONE IN LONDON WITH AN EVENING OF DUALITY AND TEAM SPIRIT
“The Special One” is the nickname of soccer coach José Mourinho. His watch, too, could only be very special: here is the Hublot Big Bang Unico Special One, a technical gem that will be produced in only 200 pieces.
José Mario dos Santos Félix Mourinho, better known as José Mourinho, is without doubt the world’s best-known coach. And with good reason: considered by many to be the best football tactician of his generation, he has won every title he has held: Portuguese champion with FC Porto, English champion with Chelsea FC, Italian champion with Inter Milan, Spanish champion with Real Madrid. José Mourinho is currently coach of the legendary Manchester United club. But that’s not the only team he’s a member of: he’s been part of Hublot’s prestigious family of ambassadors since 2014. A partnership celebrated on November 28 at an unforgettable event, in the glory of team spirit, held in London. From an expertly conducted interview with José Mourinho by Ricardo Guadalupe, CEO of Hublot, to bold, rhythmic speeches by the master of ceremonies, Mark Pougatch, and a surprise concert by international artist Julian Perretta, the evening was rich in color! The highlight was undoubtedly when José Mourinho himself asked the 120 prestigious guests to unveil the limited series paying tribute to him, with 10 examples of the Big Bang Unico Special One ingeniously hidden in each centerpiece.
Recognizable at first glance, the iconic Big Bang design is here adorned in blue. Why blue? Because it’s José Mourinho’s favorite color. Known for his elegance, he always wears a touch of blue, whether in his suit, tie or shirt. The 45mm-diameter polished ceramic bezel and case are tinted directly in the mass. Why red? Because, as José Mourinho explains, red adds personality. The dial, adorned with touches of red and black, is skeletonized to reveal Hublot’s famous UNICO flyback chronograph manufacture movement, caliber HUB1242. This movement, also visible through the transparent sapphire case-back, offers a 72-hour power reserve. The rubber-lined alligator strap is finished in the same blue hue as the watch, with red stitching.
Limited to 200 pieces, the Big Bang Unico Special One is delivered in a case worthy of its exclusivity: a box in the same shade of blue as the watch itself, highlighted here and there with touches of black and red, featuring José Mourinho’s signature on the crystal and containing a personalized moleskine notebook.
