CitizenM Copenhagen:Affordable luxury in the capital of cool

The multi-award-winning citizenM hotel group opens its 14th establishment in the heart of Copenhagen today, December 3, 2018.

An art installation entitled “Citizens of Copenhagen”, was created by renowned local photographer Marie Hald. It consists of 33 portraits of Copenhageners, displayed on the 150 windows of the hotel facade, creating a magnificent gallery open to the public as the work enters its final phase. The result is a creative and artistic celebration of the city’s diversity.

citizenM, the hotel group that is revolutionizing the traditional spirit of its sector, has created the “luxury at affordable prices” approach to the stays it offers. First and foremost, by selecting well-connected locations in the world’s most visited cities, so that business and leisure travelers are always at the heart of the action. Each establishment creates a coherent, intelligent experience, featuring high-tech amenities, authentic, efficient service, luxurious bedding in rooms offering the essentials and exclusive comfort, and spacious, welcoming living spaces brimming with contemporary art. Once again, Vitra, a long-standing partner of citizenM, is the supplier of all the iconic 21st-century furniture designed by de Verner Panton and Jasper Morrison.

With an unwavering commitment to design, technology and strategic location, citizenM waited until the ideal location was available in Copenhagen. The site, at number 12 Andersens Boulevard, is the best in the city for its proximity to the most visited business, leisure and cultural districts. The citizenM Copenhagen Radhuspladsen is just a few steps from Radhuspladsen, a four-minute walk from Tivoli Gardens and ten minutes from the National Museum of Denmark. The main railway station is just an eight-minute walk away. A brand-new metro line with a station at Radhuspladsen (currently under construction) will create a fast and easy link to Copenhagen airport. The new metro line is scheduled to open in July 2019.

The experience of affordable luxury begins the moment guests are welcomed by citizenM ambassadors, “people who love people”. They assist with check-in, which takes no more than a minute, create the perfect cocktail, help with luggage or recommend the best restaurants and excellent entertainment and shopping venues in the area.

As usual, the citizenM lounge is the focal point of the hotel. Punctuated by Vitra sofas, tables, chairs and bookcases, and decorated with a mix of commissioned and purchased artworks and objects, this lounge goes against the habit of “leaving guests in their rooms”. Designed to be both playful and relaxing, the lounge is a “home from home” place to relax, watch TV, work, sip coffee. This Copenhagen hotel is the first in the brand to feature a top-floor lounge. A spectacular sky bar (open to the public) with an outdoor terrace, stunning city views and unique cocktails create a sense of “escape” without having to leave the city. At the heart of the lounge, the CantineM – open 24/7 to hotel guests – offers products sourced mainly from local suppliers. Guests arriving too late to dine out will never have to go to bed hungry. Visitors wishing to take a little citizenM home with them will appreciate collectionM, a unique souvenir store. It offers a selection of original, colorful and useful objects, from chargers and pens to toys and books. One of the best-sellers is the group’s unique “AM and PM” shower gel, a worldwide bestseller in a large-format bottle.

238 elegant rooms furnished with luxury essentials will be ready from December 2018, starting at 95 euros. All the features of a citizenM room are present: huge king-size beds, luxury linens and towels, Power Grohe showers and ultra-fast unlimited Wi-Fi for streaming. The in-room iPad (known as the MoodPad) is the ideal solution for all those still-asleep guests whose catchphrase is “I don’t feel like getting up.” With this tablet, you can easily modulate the temperature, flood the room with colored lights, close the blinds or even take advantage of the free movie library. You choose the perfect ambience for romance or relaxation.

In every city, citizenM sets itself apart from other hotels not only by creating a new customer experience, but also by inviting local artists to add their own touch to the place inside and out. At citizenM Copenhagen in Radhuspladsen, artist Troels Aagaard painted a mural on both walls of the lobby, while Ditte Ejlerskov and HuskMitNavn created murals for the rooms (walls and ceilings) as well as for the sky bar.

Four “creative society” rooms (the largest accommodating up to 12 people) will be available for half-day or full-day bookings, with full catering and beverage service on request. Unlike the unusual meeting rooms in other hotels, these will be for anyone who wants to carry out beautiful projects in inspiring surroundings. Daylight, audiovisual equipment and walls of blackboards or whiteboards on which to draw make these rooms ideal for meetings, presentations or interviews.

citizenM Copenhagen Radhuspladsen will be the 14th stylish urban destination and the first flagship in Scandinavia. Reservations are now open for visits from December 2018. Located in the triangle of Copenhagen’s famous Tivoli Gardens, Central Station and the city’s largest conference centers, the new property stands as a new must-see in the Danish capital.
