“It’s a bit like a fairy tale, dreamy, weird and mysterious, we have to keep the spring spirit, I guess the foliage will help us do that.” Junko

The green thread of the collection, from the invitation card onwards, a magical tree naively drawn by a child’s hand, inspires, haunts and invades the collection with embroidery and prints. As committed to fashion as she is to life, Junko Shimada lives by the rhythm of the seasons and marvels at the coming spring. Drawing on her energy and creativity like a tree hugger, she roots her rebellious spirit and alternative chic in an ode to nature, populated by elves and mysterious spirits. Beneath dreamy, giant-leaf headdresses, classics twist, basics jazz, dresses dance with glee and blouses giggle with clear, casual laughter. Black, red or flesh-colored lace encanaillent mechanics’ overalls and gardeners’ jackets in flowing crepe
turtle-dove or straw. Whether city mice or field chickens, they don their navy, beige or scarlet gingham wardrobes, embellished with embroidery or optical feathers, and warmed up with fluffy, airy knits in apple green, orange or canary yellow. A waking dream of spring, a midsummer night’s dream…
