A few weeks ago, we had the immense pleasure of discovering the city of St. Petersburg, invited by the city’s Tourism Development Committee. We stayed at a legendary venue: the Four Seasons Lion Palace in St. Petersburg.

This former 19th-century royal residence was converted into a Four Seasons hotel in 2013 and remains one of the country’s most spectacular palaces.

The Lion Palace, whose construction began in 1818, is a remarkable building steeped in history. The story goes that, while strolling through the city in the company of Prince Lobanov-Rostovsky, Tsar Alexander I expressed his disappointment at the unsightly appearance of St. Isaac’s Square. To remedy the situation, Prince Lobanov-Rostovsky invited the famous French architect Auguste de Montferrand to design a building, and two years later a magnificent palace was presented to Tsar Alexander I by the prince, as a token of his loyalty to the throne.

Thanks to its history and the investments made by Tristar Investment Holdings, this palace has become a priceless part of Russia’s heritage. The two marble lions on either side of the main entrance – created by Italian sculptor Paolo Triscorni – watch over the city of St. Petersburg and have become one of its most important symbols.

The decoration of the Four Seasons Hotel Lion Palace St. Petersburg pays homage to Russian royalty and the splendor of the imperial era. The quintessence of luxury, the hotel offers 183 rooms and 26 suites. A concierge service is at guests’ disposal to organize private tours of the city’s main monuments, evening walks along the canals or caviar and champagne tastings at the hotel.

A magical place with several restaurants to tempt even the most discerning palate. Percorso, a sophisticated Italian restaurant run by Chef Valerio Andrisani, or Sintoho, a magnificent Asian restaurant.

You’ll also find a very nice bar, the XANDER BAR, offering revisited Russian cocktails.

We mustn’t forget to mention the beautiful LUCEO SPA.
