Apple is once again revolutionizing the online music market.
The long-awaited launch of Apple Music, a pioneering streaming music application, was announced today. With the decline in digital music sales, Apple is entering the streaming music sector, which would seem to be much more in tune with the future, and in which Spotify has already been firmly established for 9 years. Apple is pushing labels to discontinue Spotify’s free, ad-supported system. With this advantage, Apple will be on an equal footing with the Swedish giant, since both services will offer access to over 30 million tracks for the same price: $9.99 per month, or 8.90 euros. Nevertheless, Apple’s streaming service stands out from the crowd thanks to its advanced curation system, which will help you organize your library.
In fact, the Apple Music device will take into account the tracks you already own and direct you according to your musical preferences. The concept is based on the idea that the music you already own can coexist with Apple Music’s catalog of over 30 million titles. What’s more, the immense choice on offer will be judiciously combined with a curatorial filter of experts whose role will be to program personalized playlists for your Macs, PCs, IPads, Iphones and other android phones. Users will be torn between the option of listening to the track of their choice or letting the Apple curators make a choice for them. The service will be linked with Apple’s other proprietary features, so we’ll be able to ask Siri to play us the best songs of 1989, or ask what was the number 1 song in France in October 2012.
In addition to the streaming service, the software will provide 24-hour access to a live radio station broadcast in over 100 countries, featuring the world’s largest collection of music. Apple Music Radio will provide access to stations created by internationally renowned DJs such as DJ Zane Lowe from Los Angeles, Ebro Darden from New York and Julie Adenuga from London. Stations will range in style from Funk to Indie, Folk and Classical to Electronic.
In addition to these innovative features, Apple is also keen to foster relationships between artists and fans. Through Apple Music Connect, various artists will be able to share lyrics, photos and backstage videos, and even divulge their latest creation directly from their Android. Fans, meanwhile, will be able to comment, like and share via message, e-mail and social networks anything posted by the artist in question.
From June 30, Apple Music will offer its users three months’ free membership, after which members will be asked to pay $9.99 monthly for the service. A family plan guaranteeing access for up to six people will also be available for $14.99/month.
