TO SEPTEMBER 21, 2017 “PLAZA HAVANA CLUB” HONORS ICONIC CUBAN COCKTAILS
It’s going to be a Cuban summer. Once again this year, Havana Club dares to transform Café A into a district of the Cuban capital. Plaza Havana Club, a traditional square authentically recreated around two of Havana’s legendary bars: La Bodeguita del Medio and El Floridita.
On the program, the cantineros of these two emblematic establishments, specially flown in from Cuba, will be on hand to reveal their expert bar skills and introduce guests to the art of the Cuban cocktail: mojito, daïquiri and cancha.
A host of Cuban artists, including musicians, designers, street artists and graphic artists, will be on hand to breathe Havana’s soul into every detail, for a complete immersion in Cuban culture.

2 LEGENDARY HAVANA BARS, 3 LEGENDARY COCKTAILS
La Bodeguita del Medio and its famous mojito, and El Floridita, birthplace of the daiquiri, will be on hand with these two classic Cuban cocktails made with Havana Club 3 años.
Indeed, Havana Club, the Cuban rum, has always had a place of honour in these essential bars, which is why we wanted to offer them a special place in Paris.
This is an opportunity to present the cocktails in their original atmosphere, as they are still tasted today by the Havana people themselves. While the mojito and the daiquiri are well known, the cancha, an alternative long-drink version of the canchanchara, created with Havana Club 7 años, has yet to be discovered.
BEHIND EACH COCKTAIL, A CANTINERO
The cantineros are 100% Cuban bartenders, cocktail pros who belong to one of the oldest clubs: The bartenders club of the Republic of Cuba, officially recognized by the governor of Havana in 1924. With these bar experts, the art of the cocktail finds its true meaning.
At every moment, these professionals exercise their skills and shape their gestures with the sole aim of developing new recipes.
Their role on site? To create cocktails around Havana Club, a chance to discover Cuban cocktail culture at its most authentic.
IMMERSION IN CUBAN SOIL
For three months, from June 14 to September 21, 2017, Plaza Havana Club will be the place for purely Cuban cocktails, where cantineros will introduce visitors to the art of the mojito.
Plaza Havana Club will also be in the colors of Havana with Giselle Monzon, a very active representative of the new generation of Cuban graphic designers. With talent and inspiration, this passionate artist revisits a typically Cuban tradition: the creation of silk-screen posters.
Nelson Ponce and Edel Rodriguez Molano, two Cuban artists with a protean style, will also be on hand. Mural painting, illustration, poster design and video, they are up-and-coming figures on the Cuban art scene.
The three artists behind Havana Club’s visual identity will present a joint artistic performance in the form of a fresco on the walls of Café A.
HAVANA CLUB “EL RON DE CUBA
The making of Havana Club is closely linked to the expertise of its Maestros del Ron Cubano, the guardian angels who perpetuate the art of añejamiento. It is the Cuban rum par excellence.
The Maestros del Ron Cubano* are responsible for every stage of the production process, from the selection of the sugar cane and the finest ingredients to the final bottling phase. It takes passion and patience to make a Havana Club rum, not to mention a sense of tradition.
A know-how that requires at least fifteen years of apprenticeship. Rich in color, Havana Club rum proudly assumes its intense character, intimately linked to Cuban culture.
A tradition perpetuated on the “Island of Rum”, as it is known, and which makes Havana Club the authentic Cuban rum.
Opening hours: Monday to Saturday from 10am to 2am and Sunday from 11am to 1am.
