The press was out in force on July 3 at 10, Bd Montmartre, Paris, to welcome Angelina Jolie’s character to the Grévin, the legendary home of French entertainment.

Grévin honors Angelina Jolie as much for her rich film career as for her commitment to various humanitarian causes and her fight against cancer.

A true artistic feat

It took sculptor Stéphane Barret and the teams at the Atelier Grévin 6 months to create an uncanny likeness of Angelina Jolie.

The Grévin artists worked solely from photos and videos to reproduce the actress’s perfect silhouette.

Angelina Jolie’s character, dressed in a tuxedo pant – a copy of what she wore in London on February 16 for the 2014 Baftas Awards, at which the Brad Pitt-produced film 12 Years of Slave was nominated – is shown alongside Brad Pitt but also George Clooney and Laetitia Casta, in the Salle des colonnes at Grévin.

Why Angelina Jolie?

Angelina Jolie: a committed woman

Angelina Jolie made numerous visits to refugee camps in over twenty countries, and turned to the Geneva-based UNHCR (United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees), being named a Goodwill Ambassador in 2011.

The journey of an accomplished artist

The daughter of actors, Angelina Jolie has been immersed in comedy since childhood, starring alongside her parents in Lookin’ to get out in 1982 at the age of 7. She went on to star in several low-budget films before landing her first Hollywood feature role in 1995, in the now cult film Hackers. She won her first Golden Globes in 1997 for her portrayal of Cornelia Wallace, the governor’s second wife, in the critically acclaimed biopic George Wallace. A year later, she was awarded her second Golden Globes for her portrayal of Gia Carangi, a drug-addicted model with AIDS, in the TV movie Femme de rêve. Over the course of her career, she worked alongside such major actors as Sean Connery, Cate Blanchett and Denzel Washington. In 1999, the actress won her third Golden Globe and first Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for her performance in A Stolen Life.

In 2000, Angelina Jolie found herself starring in her first blockbuster, 60 Seconds Chrono , with Nicolas Cage. Her international career was then launched, and the actress appeared in cult films such as Lara Croft, Mr. and Mrs. Smith Salt and The Tourist. In 2008, she won her fourth Golden Globe for her acclaimed role in Clint Eastwood’s TheExchange. In 2011, her film career took a significant turn, as she stepped behind the camera for the second time. Having already directed a documentary in 2007, A Place in Time, this is her first feature film, Au Pays du Sang et du Miel. Unbroken, her second film, was released in 2014.

Angelina Jolie is currently starring in Maléfique, Robert Stromberg’s new Walt Disney film about Sleeping Beauty.
