Etihad Airways celebrates its Emirati heritage with new limited-edition toiletry kits. The aim is to introduce foreigners to the cultural traditions of the United Arab Emirates. This initiative has two results: it enhances passenger comfort while supporting local craftsmanship.
These new products reflect the airline’s deep cultural attachment to Emirati traditions. Etihad Airways has been the national airline of the United Arab Emirates since 2003. In 2013, it carried almost 12 million passengers.
Passengers travelling on long-haul services to and from Abu Dhabi will receive a hand-crafted toiletry kit. Diamond First Class passengers will receive exclusive products from New York luxury brand Le Labo. Business class Pearl kits will feature all-natural products from Athens-based Korres.
This range of kits has been created in partnership with Sougha, a social enterprise launched by the Khalifa Fund for Enterprise Development, which aims to preserve Emirati traditions and promote local craftsmen.
The kits are made using an intricate, centuries-old weaving technique. The motifs are inspired by designs traditionally used on Bedouin blankets, cushions and tents. Products that are both functional and elegant, combining current trends with the heritage of artisanal tapestries. An original and clever initiative to raise awareness of the country’s culture.
