Boucheron between past and present

Recently, the House of Boucheron invited us to Place Vendôme to unveil its secrets. It was a privileged evening that allowed us to discover the history of the House and its new collections.

Here are a few anecdotes.
Monsieur Boucheron opened his first boutique in 1853 in the Palais Royal, and moved to Place Vendôme in 1893, where there was nothing except the Ritz. He chose this location for its light. Monsieur Boucheron caused a sensation at the time, offering jewelry to courtesans as well as to women of good family. The Chinese cabinet was also used by courtesans, as it had a secret passage allowing them to escape with their unfaithful lovers in the event of chance encounters.

The Countess de Castiglione lived where part of the Maison Boucheron boutique now stands, and it is said that her ghost still haunts the premises.
Edith Piaf gave a Boucheron watch to each of her lovers.

All these stories and more were told to us, and we were introduced to the Boucheron heritage manager, who presented unique pieces from the archives.

For this holiday season, Boucheron has taken the crazy gamble of introducing visitors to Place Vendôme in an innovative way via social networks: http: //www.26-place-vendome.boucheron.com/.
For the first time, a jewelry house is taking over social networks, offering the choice of visiting Facebook and Twitter, where you’ll find your profile in the Boucheron colors.

In the run-up to Christmas, the dedicated mini-site created for the occasion also reveals some precious secrets of Boucheron’s unique expertise through three of its iconic lines: Ava, Quatre and Reflet.

The success of the Quatre ring
Worn by celebrities such as Carine Roitfeld, Charlotte Rampling and Tomer Sisley, the Quatre collection sets the trend for the season. Combining technical complexity with over 150 years of jewelry-making expertise, its contemporary, elegant design is enlivened by a touch of hype. Boucheron’s jewelry craftsmen have assembled four rings in yellow gold, rose gold, white gold and Boucheron “chocolate gold”, each sculpted with an emblematic Boucheron code – grosgrain, godron, diamond points and smooth polish.

This legendary collection was born with the original Quatre ring, which features four different golds on a variable-width model, which can be sublimated with diamonds.

In wedding band or solitaire versions, the Quatre Follies ring sublimates the aesthetics of these four textures through two double-ring models: a godron motif ring with a line of diamonds, or a smooth polished ring with a diamond point motif.

The Quatre clan has expanded with the arrival of Quatre “White Edition” with a white ceramic ring. After two years of research, Boucheron has created “Hycéramique”, the first ceramic that can be sculpted. This true innovation illuminates the diamond-point motif with a fresh touch of brilliance.

There’s also the Ava collection, with its pure, cool beauty.
