For Spring/Summer 2027, Andrew Kwon presents “Séraphine”, a collection exploring a femininity inspired by nature and its changing beauty. The fragility of the natural world acquires expressive strength. The designer’s starting point is Nicolino Calyo’s painting, Arcadian Landscape, reinterpreted through movement, light and mystery.
The show, held at Saint Bartholomew’s Church on Park Avenue, creates a striking contrast between the venue’s historic architecture and the lightness of the silhouettes. Fluid gowns, sculptural corsets, long trains and voluminous capes form lines that seem to float around the body. Sheer inserts and architectural cut-outs gently define the figure, while fitted volumes converse with fuller shapes. References to nature emerge in dimensional flowers, delicate embroidery, lace, pearls and crystals arranged asymmetrically across the pieces. Airy, translucent gowns sit alongside dark lace and more structured, richly embellished silhouettes.
The palette moves from champagne, powder pink and celadon to shades of aquatic blue, violet and midnight blue. Iridescent textures and crystals catch the light, evoking water and drops of dew, while colour gradients convey the atmosphere of a landscape in perpetual transformation.
