Couture goldsmith Georges Hobeika presents a Fall Winter 2015-2016 collection celebrating afternoon tea. The collection brings back to life the habits and customs of the grand monde, the delicacy of savoir vivre, and the shared pleasures of gourmet dining, with elegant, vaporous silhouettes featuring the sumptuous decorative motifs of porcelain art in vigorous relief.
The English ritual is reflected in outfits whose graceful, youthful curves evoke the contours of a cup of tea. As if repelled by their own vigor, luxurious, abundant flowers seem to spring up on soft fabrics to become a lyrical play of colorful prints.
Golden belts encircle the waist like a golden border. Luminous embroidery materializes in a myriad of jasmines, lilies of the valley, succulent berries or majestic pansies, so lively that they seem to dart from side to side as if the twilight breeze were whispering through their long leaves.
At times, the blue-and-white backdrops burst into luminous contrast as if to herald the light of sunset, at other times, the blue-and-white backdrops burst into luminous contrast as if to herald the light of sunset, at other times, the petals languish in the russet melancholy of autumn. Sweet or full-bodied, a thousand shades of tea quench the thirst of precious fabrics – silk shantung, organza, guipure – whose airy grace and regal luxury are a supreme ode to the elixir of long life.
