Johnny Hallyday celebrated his 72nd birthday last Sunday in Venice Beach, Los Angeles. For the occasion, his wife, Laetitia Halliday, donned a black wig emulating Louise Brooks’ sleek bob, and orchestrated an exceptional evening on the theme of Francis Scott Fitzgerald’s novel, “Gatsby The Magnificent”. Feathers, sequins, champagnes, aquatic ballet and art deco plates intermingled for an evening awash with the enchantment of the Roaring Twenties.
If Laetitia was a more than exemplary host, Johnny was more than at ease in his role as billionaire philanthropist, a role previously played by Robert Redford and Leonardo Dicaprio. It has to be said that the splendor of his attire suited him perfectly. In his company were his daughters Jade and Joy in sequin dresses, Omar and Hélène Sy, and Sébastien Farran, his manager. Everyone was happy to play the contestation and contraband games of the historic Prohibition era in the USA, as evidenced by the Instagram photos featuring the hashtag #thegreatjohnny or the official accounts of Laetitia and Johnny Halliday.
As for the bartenders, they redoubled their inventiveness and agility to offer original cocktails, served around a bar redecorated with cubist geometrisations and the letters “J” and “H” for this unique night. It was a memorable evening, and our French Elvis can’t seem to forget his 72nd birthday… ” Super soirée et très joyeux anniversaire merci à mon amour et à tous les amis”, he posted by way of thanks.
