Elektricity 2014

A nomadic and innovative festival, Elektricity has established itself as one of the must-see musical events of the autumn season, setting the city of Reims ablaze for a week.
From September 28 to October 4 , the Cité des Sacres will be transformed into the capital of electronic music, welcoming the crème de la crème of artists and djs for exceptional live performances, creations and cartes blanches: London Grammar, Brodinski, Christine & the Queens, Edwreck Radio (Pedro Winter & friends), Fakear, Salut c’est Cool, Alb, Acid Arab, Andrew Weatherall, Clatone, The 2Bears, Daniel Avery, and many more…

2014 is a pivotal year for Elektricity, marking the beginning of a whole new history for the event. After eleven acts oscillating between club, pop and experimental music, for this new edition Elektricity returns to the fundamentals that have cemented this great party, both popular and daring. The festival’s guiding principle is the passion for kick, the beat that gives rhythm to the joy of several generations who can’t accept that summer is already over. From September 28 to October 04, Elektricity invites itself, spreads out and spreads like the perfume it has never ceased to be, that of carefree, daring, fun and abandon.

Located just 45 minutes from Paris, the festival will be taking place, as usual, in all the major venues of the city of Reims, a new breeding ground for French indie music, at 7 sites, one of which is particularly prestigious and steeped in history: the square in front of Reims Cathedral. Elektricity will bring this twelfth edition to a grand conclusion with two evenings of festivities featuring established artists and unifying styles, on October 3 and 4.

Founded in 2003 on an idea by Yuksek, the Elektricity festival has been making Reims vibrate to the sound of electronic music for 12 years. Air, Birdy Nam Nam, Tahiti 80, Justice, Metronomy, 2 Many Dj’s, Etienne de Crecy, Gonzales, Laurent Garnier, Yuksek, Brodinski, The Shoes, Busy P, Mr. Oizo, Breakbot, Pierre Henry, Amon Tobin, Carl Craig, DJ Krush, Herman Dune, Matmos, Rubin Steiner, Ivan Smagghe, Ariel Wizman, Scratch Massive… all these renowned artists have already featured on the festival’s top bill.

Elektricity has also helped put Reims on the map of musical cities of excellence. Yuksek, Brodinski, The Shoes, Alb, The Bewitched Hands, About The Girl and Monsieur Monsieur are just some of the names of Reims-based artists associated with the festival and recognized at national and international level. Renowned for its eclecticism and, above all, its high standards, Elektricity has become a necessary step for many international artists. The festival has created a real need among an increasingly curious and numerous public. Recent editions have been a huge success, both in terms of attendance and artistry. More than 10,000 spectators at the last edition, and a jubilant and adventurous program, have enabled Elektricity to clearly display its new ambitions: to become a popular event while retaining the bold artistic line which is its raison d’être and which has made its originality. Proud of its track record, in tune with the times, and of the work it has accomplished, particularly in breaking down barriers between genres, and bringing audiences and generations together, the Elektricity team is looking forward to making a splash once again in 2014, by inviting the people of Rémain to a great moment of sharing, a collective celebration to mark the festival’s twelfth anniversary.
