Completely refurbished in February 2011, the Four Seasons Hotel London at Park Lane lights up the Mayfair district. The Four Seasons Park Lane boasts a very green interior, with high windows and verandas opening onto terraces overlooking Hyde Park, giving guests a real breath of fresh air in the heart of London. An unforgettable stay.
A privileged morning welcome
The experience begins as soon as the sun rises, when guests arriving early at the hotel are invited to the 10th floor lounge, where they can enjoy a leisurely breakfast, refresh themselves, connect to the Internet or simply take in the exceptional view of the British capital.
” It’s common to arrive early at a hotel after a long flight, and not know where to wait until the room is ready,” explains John Stauss. “Now, thanks to this unique space specially designed for our guests on the 10th floor of the hotel, they will be able to enjoy this oasis overlooking the city in excellent conditions.”
At lunchtime, this lounge offers a menu of dietetic dishes, and in the evening, the space can be privatized for exceptional receptions thanks, among other things, to the view over the London cityscape.
Once our rooms are ready, we head for our apartments.
Four Seasons has once again taken care of every detail in its rooms to offer the “best sleep in town”. Each of the 192 rooms and suites is comfortably appointed and offers modern decor and amenities. “Guests will find that the hotel’s rooms and public areas are equipped with the latest technological innovations,” explains Stauss.
We had the honor of testing out the Presidential Suite at the Four Seasons Park Lane. This sumptuous apartment, equipped with a dressing room, kitchen and dining room, offers the utmost comfort in a decor that’s been meticulously designed without being overly exuberant. What strikes us immediately is the breathtaking view over the park. Many of the suites overlook Hyde Park, and during the festive season the view is breathtaking both day and night, as the Winter Wonderland brings the park to life with its fairground lights.
“It’s a “green” establishment, literally and figuratively. There are lots of plants in the public areas, as they improve air quality and act as a sort of link with the outside world. In the rooms, the lighting and air-conditioning have been designed to help save energy while ensuring the best possible comfort.”
The establishment also offers connecting rooms in a variety of ways, so that families or groups can stay side by side.
An atmosphere evoking the splendor of luxury liners
Designed by architect Eric Parry, the building can be compared to a ship, with its bow pointing towards Park Lane, and its roof, which houses the Spa and Lounge, clad in zinc. For the rooms and public spaces, interior designer Pierre-Yves Rochon blended different styles to create an elegant decor evoking the golden age of luxury ocean liner travel in the 1930s, a time when travelers took their time and were curious to discover the world… Pierre-Yves Rochon also wanted to evoke the warm ambience of manor houses in the English countryside, by placing numerous fireplaces throughout the hotel, notably in the lobby, restaurant and bar, as well as in several meeting rooms, the 10th-floor lounge, and numerous rooms and suites.
Guests of the Conservatory Suites can enjoy a lushly furnished patio, ideal for morning tea or a drink before dining out. The hotel’s most impressive room is undoubtedly the Garden Suite, which opens onto a huge terrace and offers magnificent views over Hyde Park.
A Spa with the most beautiful view of London
Also located on the 10th floor, the hotel’s Spa features a swimming pool under a glass roof, as well as steam rooms, saunas and treatment rooms lit by natural light. The spa’s ambience is resolutely celestial. An ingenious system of curtains provides both a view of Hyde Park and total privacy. Twice as large as the other treatment rooms, the Sky Suite offers a 180° view to be enjoyed as a couple or with friends. The Fitness Centre is also located on the same floor, and will motivate its users thanks to a magnificent view over Westminster.
Amaranto: one restaurant, three different atmospheres
The new Four Seasons Hotel London at Park Lane is also set to become a popular meeting place for Londoners. The Amaranto restaurant brings together three distinct spaces – a lounge, a bar and a restaurant – to give guests a choice of setting. Accessible from the hotel or from the Hamilton Place entrance, it features a dining room with a veranda opening onto a terrace, a bright atrium overlooking the lobby, and a bar-club in the middle, with an impressive vertical wine cellar running along the entire wall. Amaranto offers a modern, Italian-inspired menu, and is the ideal place to enjoy a hearty breakfast, lunch in elegant surroundings, afternoon tea, early evening cocktails and, of course, chic dining. Whether you’re in London for business or pleasure, for two or a small group, Amaranto offers an intimate space, a private dining room or a tasting table next to the fireplace.
Reception and meeting rooms on the same floor
The reception and meeting rooms are located on a mezzanine level, accessible via a grand staircase from the Amaranto restaurant. They can accommodate between 10 and 370 people, and most are bathed in natural light. The Hamilton Room offers a 180° view of Hyde Park, while other rooms feature fireplaces and period wood panelling. “We chose to concentrate all the meeting and reception facilities on a single floor for the comfort of organizers and participants alike. It’s even possible to book the entire floor,” continues John Stauss.
