THE YUCATAN, BETWEEN LUXURY AND MAYAN AUTHENTICITY

Along the way, you’ll discover picturesque landscapes, a rich culture and omnipresent popular beliefs. The “cantinas” of the traditional markets will welcome you to discover the local specificities, rich in colors and tastes. And to top it all off, you can take a private helicopter directly to some of the Mayan pyramids, a confidential experience far from the crowds!

THE CHARM OF LIFE IN A LUXURY HACIENDA

The Hacienda Temozon is a restored 17th-century building transformed into a luxury hotel.

With its peaceful gardens, swimming pool and impressive private cenote, it’s a truly luxurious experience. Afterwards, discover traditional Mayan relaxation rituals at the SPA, before sampling tasty local recipes (e.g. fresh Grouper with mango sauce, couscous and black sesame seeds) in the restaurant, on the terraces or in the extensive gardens. Most of the products cooked are organically grown and sourced from the hotel’s own gardens. Freshly baked bread is made at the hacienda, and fishermen from the surrounding coastal villages bring in their fresh fish every day.

THE MAYAN MYSTERIES

Uxmal is one of the most beautiful and complex sites in the Yucatán, famous for its architecture and sculptures. The impressive scenery, accompanied by the narration of a specialist guide, will bring the ruins to life before your very eyes and will be a unique form of learning.

After a short hike, a delicious gourmet picnic awaits walkers on the chapel ruins of a private hacienda open only to a privileged few, for a luxury experience far from the crowds.

PLUNGE INTO NATURE

The Celestún nature reserve on the Yucatán Gulf coast is fascinating. A boat takes you down to the estuary and mangrove swamps bordering the river to come face-to-face with pink flamingos and dozens of other avian species. After a swim in a natural spring, visit the town of Celestún, an authentic fishing village almost frozen in time.

HACIENDA UAYAMON

To relax, head for the hacienda Uayamón to the south-east of Campeche. Horseback rides can be organized from the Hacienda, as can expeditions with an archaeologist specializing in the Mayan world, to discover the many remains in the area. Finally, to relax after a long expedition, what could be better than a massage outdoors or in the magnificent Hacienda Spa, with expert therapists and natural products made from the estate’s own plants? The site is also steeped in history, as evidenced by its chapel, which has remained in its original state. The swimming pool is a perfect illustration, spectacularly set within the stone walls of the original building. In the rooms, the hammocks are woven from typical Yucatan cotton. You really feel at one with nature. As for the restaurant’s chef, Juan Carlos Sanchez, he marries Campeche specialities with European flavours to perfection.

CAMPECHE

This fascinating town is built on the ruins of a Mayan city. For centuries, it was one of Mexico’s most important ports and a frequent target for pirates. This explains its enormous wall, parts of which are still standing. Declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, Campeche is home to museums, magnificent churches and colorful colonial buildings.
