What the Garden Whispers presents some twenty photographs by Juliette Agnel at the Redentore. A second selection will join Le Stanze della Fotografia in November.
The restored garden becomes a photographic subject in its own right. In Venice, What the Garden Whispers brings together some twenty images by Juliette Agnel, curated by Emmanuelle de L’Ecotais. The exhibition runs from 28 August to 19 December 2026 in the Antiche Officine of the garden of the Convent of the Most Holy Redeemer, on the Giudecca.
An observation by day and by night
According to the press release published by Richemont on 22 October, the artist walked the garden at different times of day and night. The restoration of the site was led by Venice Gardens Foundation with patrons, among them Van Cleef & Arpels. The house has supported the photographer’s work since Photo Days in 2023.
These two relationships must be distinguished: contributing to the restoration of a garden and accompanying an artist who photographs it. They meet here in the same place, but do not constitute the same intervention. The exhibition gives visible form to this crossing, without allowing the ecological effects of the restoration to be measured on its own.
Two venues, two calendars
An additional selection is announced at Le Stanze della Fotografia, on the island of San Giorgio Maggiore, from 10 November 2026 to 27 January 2027. The two presentations will therefore overlap for several weeks.
The itinerary suggests a way of looking at patronage beyond the presence of a name on a wall label: following what it makes possible over time, then leaving the work its space of interpretation. The garden exists as a living place; the photographs offer a perception of it. Confusing the two would cost each its singularity.
