After French berets, let’s take a look at the bag our grandparents used: the cabas. This shopping bag, flattened with two handles, has been revisited by the young Zecabas brand.
Created in 2009, the Zecabas. com website offers its first numbered, limited edition bags. With a view to establishing a certain “savoir-faire à la Française”, the brand called on illustrator Sophie Griotto.
After working for the big names in fashion: Dior, Jean-Paul Gautier, Givenchy, Vuitton… Sophie Griotto devotes herself to her career as an illustrator. Attaching great importance to the quality of the medium she works on, she now favors French manufacturing and know-how, collaborating with the Zecabas brand. This led to the creation of the “Hamac” and “Baigneuse et Craneuse” bags, as well as the “Scooter” tote bag and the “Kokeshi” pouch.

100% made in France
The illustration, carried out not only by Sophie Griotto but also by Mlle Fraise and Mlle C, is not the only step designed exclusively in France. The entire production process is carried out in France. From weaving to printing to tailoring, everything is created in Northern and Eastern France.
Many major brands have appreciated the Zecabas concept and spirit, including L’Oreal, LVMH and Pierre Fabre. Zcabas has therefore developed a new B-to-B activity. The bag designer now manufactures between 100 and 100,000 custom-made tote bags for these companies.

My opinion on Zecabas bags
I was lucky enough to test for you the “Scooter” tote bag and the “Hammock” bag, both illustrated by Sophie Griotto. As you can see from the images above, the quality of the design is beyond reproach. It’s all about the detail and finesse of the lines.
As for the quality of the fabric, you won’t find yourself carrying your bag like a baby. The handles are wide enough and the fabric is thick enough to minimize the chances of it cracking. So there’s nothing to worry about.
The tote’s dimensions remain practical. Whether you’re running errands, carrying lunch or school supplies, this is THE bag for the job. You can also carry your laptop. Just remember to leave it in its original protection. Remember, these are only tote bags, so the fabric is thin, supple and light.
As for the price of these bags, you will find them between 25 and 64.50€
(the most expensive being a customizable bag)
