On July 7, 2014, the fashion capital welcomed Syrian designer Rami Al Ali for his sixth consecutive season, presenting his Autumn/Winter 2014/15 collection. His highly anticipated couture creations captivated an exclusive audience made up of the fashion elite. With this collection, unveiled at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs, the designer paid a vibrant tribute to the mysteries of the rainforest and this historic site.
Al Ali’s collection of twenty one-of-a-kind pieces highlights a subtle balance between luxurious textiles and deliberately center-stage ornamentation. The depth of tones transcends life: the fusion of emerald green, beige and gold harmonizes with the power of primary colors to create a unity that is both rich and complex. Silhouettes reveal curves and lines that hug the body with fluidity. The classic A-line has been reinterpreted with modernity on short, voluminous, layered skirts, emulating nature’s original mechanisms. Intricate embroidery and three-dimensional knits are an invitation to penetrate the secrets of the tropical canopy: the discovery of hidden depths at the heart of the earth. The textiles add a certain opulence to the wild, rebellious silhouettes of Al Ali’s natural universe. The conscious combination of lace, organza, silk, gazar, taffeta and lamé fabric forms an ensemble of luxurious finishes, the couturier’s signature.
Matte sequins and elaborate crystals sublimate the color palette, paying homage to drama, dynamism and exoticism. Royal blue and vivid yellow are magnified by gem tones such as ruby, purple and emerald. This new collection cleverly explores the link between the intensity of the jungle and its idyllic aspirations.
