First couture collection for Dice Kayek, a journey through a winter garden…Welcome to the winter garden of Dice Kayek. For the first time, Turkish-born designer Ece Ege tries her hand at haute couture as a guest member. In recent seasons, she has preferred another format, somewhere between presentation and film-making, to present her ready-to-wear. The staging, from half-light to full-light, in the basement of the Palais de Tokyo’s Yoyo club, had its arty dose, with an added touch of mystery. Only a privileged few were able to discover 15 silhouettes, each bearing the name of a flower. The curvaceous shape of the dress takes on its full importance, and becomes airy through trompe l’oeil effects, petal play, pleats, cascades of drapery, not forgetting the embroidery of crystals and blown glass beads. Strength and gentleness in equal measure, filled with romance and poetry. In short, girls in bloom as we’d like to see them more often.
