DELVAUX CELEBRATES HIS HERITAGE AT BON MARCHÉ RIVE GAUCHE: AN EVENT IN HONOR OF BELGIUM

During the “Once upon a time in Belgium” event, Maison Delvaux will be present in the famous Parisian department store Le Bon Marché Rive Gauche, with an ephemeral pop-up dedicated to comics.

Each year, Le Bon Marché Rive Gauche dedicates an exhibition to a specific country. This year, the spotlight is on Belgium, particularly through its comics. It will pay tribute to all the specialties of the flat country, from gastronomy to fashion and culture. Already prized by connoisseurs, Belgium’s expertise in the fields of design, culinary arts and comics is only gaining in international renown. This autumn, this heritage will be in the spotlight through a series of events.

Delvaux, the world’s oldest luxury house (older than Belgium itself) and supplier to the Royal Court since 1883, is delighted to be taking part in this celebration.

For the occasion, Delvaux teamed up with renowned Belgian cartoonist Frédéric Seron, better known by his pseudonym Clarke. Immersed in art since childhood thanks to his parents, this native of Liège began his career illustrating Spirou, and has directed numerous creations such as Thérapies en vrac, Cosa Nostra, Urielle and Mister President. Clarke has imagined humorous and original settings for the ephemeral pop-up and the Maison boutique, recounting its history from 1829 to the present day. His drawings retrace the milestones in Delvaux’s history with a typically Belgian touch of humor, including the filing of the first patent, the creation of Brillant and the House’s rise to international renown.

As a tribute to its beginnings nearly 200 years ago, Delvaux will be presenting a number of previously unseen vintage trunks from its archive collection. Visitors will also be able to admire a selection of the House’s most emblematic bags, the Brillant and the Tempête, dating from 1958 and 1967 respectively, as well as its latest must-have creations, the Pin and the Cool Box.

Finally, the ultimate celebration of this tribute is a limited edition of Brillant MM and Mini sublimated by the exceptional talent of designer Clarke. This humorous series will be available for sale at the ephemeral pop-up. Customers will also be able to personalize various smooth leather bags and accessories with the design of their choice.

The Delvaux ephemeral pop-up will be open from August 29 to October 18 at Le Bon Marché Rive Gauche, 24 rue de Sèvres, 75007, Paris.
