Paris Fashion Week Homme for the Autumn-Winter 2016-2017 season opened yesterday with the very first show by AVOC (for Architecture Vestimentaire et Ornement Corporel) a young brand created in 2013 by Laura Do and Bastien Laurent. The brand aims to be neutral, asexual and titled its show “Natural Born Pirates”. The show took place in the capital’s 11th arrondissement, in an industrial setting. It was dedicated to “young pirates of the 21st century who grew up between Paris and its suburbs, who talk fast, who break doors, who drive without a license, who freewheel”. The show was a real urban spectacle, with a dancer in the middle, and opened to a techno soundtrack created by Manaré, who repeated the brand’s full name on a hellish loop, with a few distinguished injunctions like “son of a bitch”. The casual silhouettes are typically Parisian, and the result is hip but not snobbish. The graphic lines are reflected in the straight cuts of jackets, coats and pants. Some of the models wore masks featuring Darth Vader, Donald Trump and Barack Obama. In terms of colors, we found the classic autumn-winter colors: black, gray and white, with denim pieces.

With this modern, contemporary show, the young AVOC brand has a promising future in menswear.
