Presented entirely in black, or adorned with red or yellow hands and hour markers, or even with a gold bezel, Bvlgari’s Diagono Ultranero chronograph shows four different aspects of its character for its 2014 collection. Four faces for one strong personality.
It’s ahead of its time but tells the perfect time. It is precious but not shiny. It is part of a recognized and prized range, but it is unique and new. Name? Diagono Ultranero.
Designed for intensive daily use, with a focus on efficiency without sacrificing refinement and elegance, Diagono three-counter chronographs are destined to accompany their owners to the highest levels of performance and precision. The Diagono name is a destiny in itself, since it derives from the ancient Greek word “agon”, synonymous with competition.
Even a quarter of a century ago, the first Diagono watch presented by Bvlgari was puzzling: beyond its classic dial design, inspired by the Myron discobolus, a universal sports symbol drawing on the culture of ancient athletes, its case was fashioned from aluminum. This light, hard-wearing material has long been favored for racing, notably
automobile racing, but curiously it was virtually unknown in luxury watchmaking.
Bvlgari’s signature engraving on the bezel, in the manner of the famous Roman company’s most emblematic watchmaking creations, gives its letters of nobility to this collection of chronograph watches with character, renewed in 2014 by four very
singular variations, using the technological materials of the time: carbon or ceramic.
A resolutely contemporary choice, the 42mm round case, in surface-treated steel using the DLC (Diamond Like Carbon) technique known for its resistance to the hazards of use such as scratches, comes in deep black in the four new versions. Complemented by rubber straps reinforced with satin-finish steel inserts, these versatile, 100 m water-resistant wristwatches will be as at home on the wrist of the frogman in diving gear as on that of Prince Charming in evening attire.
Playing on subtle contrasts, each model is adorned with fine touches of color: yellow, red, white or gold, for perfect dial legibility. The chronograph second hand, the minute track and the sub-counter graduations can be distinguished from one timepiece to the next, without disrupting the harmony and homogeneity of the Diagono family. The Super-LumiNova coating accentuates the readability of the measuring instruments, controlled by steel
push-pieces, or of the date displayed in an aperture.
All four chronographs, manufactured in Switzerland by Bvlgari, are powered by the same mechanism: Manufacture Calibre B130, a 37-jewel self-winding movement with a 28,800 vibrations per hour balance.
Available from spring 2014, Diagono Ultranero chronographs feature a 42-hour
power reserve: the adventure can begin!
