The Royal Marsden and Ralph Lauren Corporation join forces in the fight against breast cancer.
“The fight against breast cancer has long been one of my priorities,” says Ralph Lauren, Chairman, President and CEO of Ralph Lauren Corporation.
These words are wonderfully illustrated by the recent announcement of the foundation of a research center eponymous with the American house, following on from the long-standing relationship between the Royal Marsden, a breast cancer research center – the most developed in Europe – and the American House Ralph Lauren Corporation.
The Royal Marsden Hospital in Chelsea, England, will house a purpose-built breast cancer prevention and treatment center, the Ralph Lauren Center.
World-renowned clinicians and scientists will arm themselves with state-of-the-art equipment, with the aim not only of researching breast cancer, but also of improving screening and developing new treatments. The center’s main role will be to identify molecular differences between tumors, thereby optimizing the treatment of individual breast cancer patients. Reducing the risk of relapse, increasing survival rates and eliminating unnecessary toxicities.
ABOUT THE ROYAL MARSDEN CANCER CHARITY
The Royal Marsden provides cancer treatment and care to over 50,000 patients. Thanks to the support of the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity, the work and the way in which patients are cared for is influencing hospitals around the world, with the aim of pushing back the boundaries of what is possible and bringing its discoveries to patients worldwide.
The partnership with the American company is the result of donations from Ralph Lauren’s Pink Pony campaign, of which the research center is one of the beneficiaries.
