Pyla: Vodka Made in France!
To speak of terroir for a vodka may seem unusual. Yet Pyla vodka expresses this attachment to the land. It’s called Pyla after the seaside town known for its majestic sand dune and synonymous with French savoir-vivre. Villas with 1930s architecture, beach huts and the winter town all contribute to the slightly old-fashioned atmosphere and identity of this remarkable site. It’s also a wild coastline, with miles of sand bordered by pine forests. Pyla vodka asserts this identity by virtue of its origin.
The quality of this vodka is based on the expertise of two men. Lucien Viaud, a peerless alchemist, who for 50 years, in the shadow of his laboratory, has been developing liqueurs and spirits mainly for major American brands. The vodkas he has developed have won several medals. Gilles Arramon, who was his disciple, holds a doctorate in oenology and specializes in eaux-de-vie, and is now master blender at Valdronne. The second person is Gilles Arramon, who pursued excellence in the production of Pyla Vodka, giving birth to the excellium quality of Pyla. Inspired by the natural filtering of water in the earth’s various layers, he developed an original sand filtration process from the Pyla Dune. The sand used is none other than silica, the natural form of silicon dioxide. The resulting filtrate is extremely pure and extraordinarily supple.
Vodka Pyla was awarded a bronze medal at the New York International Spirits Competition in 2011.
