Steffie Christiaens impressed us last season with her interpretation of a chaotic world through clothing, using an unexpected color palette and sophisticated inspiration.
This season, Steffie explores the trend for mixed materials and layering. Winter is, by definition, cold but comfortable at Steffie Christiaens, and takes a romantic turn with pretty textiles and volumes. Wool blends elegantly with leather and fur.
Beige, camel, black, taupe and chocolate are the colors of the season. The show opens with quilted garments, specifically quilted leather coats and pants. The earthy tones are inspired by nature, and the designer is consistent in her choice of materials…even the details of the heels are studied, given that they are made of wood.
The pencil skirt is revisited and worn with knee-high boots, while blouses are voluminous and romantic when paired with high-waisted pants.
The prints are geometric, and the appliqués could almost recall the work of Iris Van Herpen. Volumes are dramatic, as draping is always paired with waist-hugging gold belts. The trend for dresses worn over pants is also apparent here.
