France wins the 2013 Bocuse d’Or at Sirha in Lyon on January 30, 2013.

France won the 14th edition of the Bocuse d’Or to the cheers of French fans at the grand finale in Lyon. This prestigious gastronomic competition, created by Paul Bocuse in 1987, is held every two years as part of the Sirha trade show. It rewards the best chef from among 24 candidates from all over the world. Thibaut Ruggeri came out on top with his extremely refined dishes.

This year’s Bocuse d’Or was a milestone in the history of the competition: a new fish test, a new scoring system highlighting national diversity, countries competing for the first time (Sri Lanka, Morocco, Hungary)… the honorary jury, made up of Italian chef Enrico Crippa (3*** at Piazza Duomo, Alba), Danish chef Rasmus Koefed (Bocuse de bronze 2005, Bocuse d’argent 2007 and Bocuse d’Or 2011), and the famous Paul Bocuse, founding president of the competition, rewarded the candidate’s boldness and innovation.
