Multi-material clothing is one of the major trends for the coming menswear season. Kris Van Assche, the Belgian designer who also holds creative responsibility for Dior Homme, has chosen to make this trend more than just a backdrop, a leitmotif for his Fall/Winter collection.
Dark tones and streetwear-inspired garments, men’s fashion prodigy Kris Van Assche takes us into a world where dress codes intermingle to create a new aesthetic. Stripes from hooded jogging suits break up the monotony of an overly serious suit, and the surprise effect is de rigueur.
The garments are composed of several parts: a shirt will comprise several sections, as if the collar, chest and bottom were each extracted from other garments and sewn together at the last moment. As well as playing with the mix of materials, the designer also tackles the geometry of the garments, with stripes and symmetry in the spotlight.
