“Paradis Roots is a wooden hut, a few flowery sofas, fruit, vegetables and friends. A cabin on the edge of a forest, on the banks of a canal, on the pier of a port… Just down the road from your home to transport you to an elsewhere in paradise where everything is real, everything is fresh. Everything is good. Good for us. “
Philippe Starck
After entrusting Philippe Starck with the decoration of its most prestigious address on Avenue George V in 2009, Paradis du Fruit is extending its collaboration with the celebrated designer.
To celebrate its thirtieth anniversary, the restaurant chain asked him to come up with a version of its concept that could be easily adapted to its entire network. A way of making the brand’s implementation flexible, with two levels of interpretation.
Le Paradis du Fruit Roots was born as a capsule of change in the heart of the city. An interlude that embodies the philosophy of simplicity and sharing that has made it such a success.
“It’s a strong, chic, warm, ‘racy’ concept that appeals to everyone and speaks to them of good living, good eating, nature and non-guilty pleasure. In short, a paradise rediscovered”, explains Claude Louzon, CEO and co-founder of Paradis du Fruit, before enthusing about this new collaboration with Philippe Starck. “Unlike many unions that experience an engagement of dreams and a marriage of nightmares, we have happily moved forward with our collaboration and Roots is the baby of this successful cooperation.”
Le Paradis du Fruit offers itself a new genesis. But a change is not fundamental if it only takes place on the surface. That’s why the heart of the restaurant, its menu, has also been improved to mark the 30th anniversary of the Paradis du Fruit adventure.
Between revisited house classics and pure novelties, this summer’s offerings also assert a return to basics, reminding us that Paradis du Fruit first made its name as an ice-cream parlour and fruit bar.
A trained ice cream maker, Claude Louzon has called on the best of his peers to enrich the summer menu with new “frosty” temptations. David Wesmael, Meilleur Ouvrier de France Glacier 2004 and member of France’s 2006 World Pastry Champion team, has joined the Paradis du Fruit team to create a number of mouth-watering creations. Alongside the very wise Passion Framboise sorbet, he creates the very gourmet Coupe Kill-Ice: a double chocolate stick customized with dulce de leche almonds and roasted hazelnuts, or enco- re a Caramel beurre salé ice-cream and a Mocha licorice ice-cream… Delights to be combined with punctuations of ripe, fresh fruit to be enjoyed as is, whether raspberries, strawberries, Ivory Coast pineapple, mandarin or the amazing kiwi variety: kiwi-energy to be crunched right out of the skin.
Delicacies to be enjoyed at any time of day or evening, unless you prefer the new “frappé” cocktails, such as the elixir to share “Anisette et Pomelo”, a refreshing combination of fresh grapefruit juice and anisette, or the deliciously regressive “Milk shake Twist Again”, a licorice espresso cream that will remind all movie lovers of a mischievous dip in a packet of Batna sweets…
Fabrice Monot, chef of Le Bound (Paris 8e), is at the helm. He infuses the fusion spirit of his cuisine into the new summer menu with the introduction of sushi at Paradis du Fruit. However, there’s no question of a soulless copy-paste: this sushi comes in a crispy sushi ball version, with two sashimi-style and smoked salmon, soberly accompanied by an authentic Japanese-style salad.
This innovation goes hand in hand with the return of iconic salads such as the Amazon salad, opposite which Fabrice Monot has created the Feta- vie salad, composed of generous slices of raw feta accompanied by first cold-pressed olive oil, which will delight lovers of the essential.
Le Paradis du Fruit Roots transposes and adapts the originality of its concept to the personality of the neighborhoods in which it sets up, reweaving its friendly markers in each new restaurant.
