Frédéric LEFEBVRE brought together the members of the Fête de la gastronomie steering committee at the Ecole Grégoire Ferrandi, in the presence of students, chefs, project leaders and professionals. He presented the 2,000 event projects organized throughout France by restaurateurs, associations, local authorities and gastronomy enthusiasts for the first edition of the festival on September 23, 2011.

Under the theme of “the earth”, the aim of this first edition is to promote the diversity of gastronomy, products and know-how, and to give a voice to the various players in the sector: restaurants, markets, amateur chefs, producers, tableware… Products, cuisine and creativity will be in the spotlight during the day, with tours, special events and tastings.

The first 2,000 projects can already be consulted on the www.fete-gastronomie.fr website, which lists all these initiatives and enables restaurateurs, professional organizations and private individuals to register their project for the festival. The site features an interactive geolocation module to find events in your area. On social networks, the Facebook page created at the end of July for festival partners and the general public (at http://www.facebook.com/fete.gastronomie) has already attracted 2,000 visitors.

Here are a few events:

Domaine Daniel-Etienne DEFAIX in Chablis is taking part in the 1st Fête de la Gastronomie on September 23. Epicurean and aesthete, Daniel-Etienne DEFAIX, 13th generation of winegrowers at one of the most famous Chablis estates, could not remain insensitive to this national initiative. So, on this day dedicated to one of the essential components of the French Art de Vivre so coveted by our foreign friends: Gastronomy, Daniel-Etienne DEFAIX will open the doors of La Cuisine au Vin, one of the estate’s two restaurants, with continuous service from noon to 10 pm. For the occasion, chef Patrick BOULOTON will be offering a number of gourmet suggestions in the colors of the region, but also, as is the tradition of this event, at affordable prices, so that everyone can share in this new event, which we hope will be a permanent fixture, in Chablis as elsewhere in France.
