The Qasimi collection for Spring Summer 2012 is called “Seizure”, a tribute to the revolutions and protests that have shaken the Arab world in recent months.
Background:
Inspired by the Jasmine Revolution and protests, a boy finds himself reacting to government restrictions and pressures. In a bid to fight for his freedom, he and his band of rebels storm palaces, looting them and setting them on fire. In the process, they adorn themselves with the destroyed interiors, taking part in what they had intended to destroy.
The collection:
Qasimi reinterprets anarchic clothing classics to create a new dialogue. Bombers and jackets are adorned with a bridle, creating a paramilitary silhouette. Men’s cuts are sprinkled with delicately poetic design touches, using baroque prints on silks, jerseys and cottons. The principle can also be seen in the laser-cut details on leathers, shirts and t-shirts. This allusion to rebellion quickly became the QASIMI aesthetic.
