” We’re delighted to be back in 2011 as part of The Creators Project,” say the members of United Visual Artists (UVA).
” The studio is a fresh and open way for young artists to reach a wide international audience through new commissions, projects and tours. We look forward to seeing it grow.”

SHANE SMITH – FOUNDER OF VICE
“Because Vice is present all over the world, we’ve been put in touch with the best artists. Whether they’re filmmakers, musicians, stylists, architects, writers or visual artists, we’re lucky enough to be able to witness this display of talent. We said to ourselves, “We should do something to bring all these creators together, a bit like the Parisian salons of the 1920s.
And why not do it in Paris?” That’s why we teamed up with La Gaîté lyrique and Les Nuits Sonores, to put on major cultural events that could have made James Joyce !er. We also launched Studio to give young artists in France and around the world a helping hand in creating and marketing their art. Whether in film, music or the visual arts, the lack of means of production and funding has marginalized and frustrated many artists.
The Creators Project developed Studio a!n to show the world that there is another kind of support for creativity, a kind of support where the artist and the art are at the forefront.”
“We knew we had a great idea when we worked with Vice to launch The Creators Project last year, but we didn’t realize the scale and scope of the global appetite for innovation. It’s the result of art and technology coming together,” con!ects Deborah Conrad, Intel’s vice president and chief marketing officer. “Last year we celebrated a new generation
creative and artistic geniuses. And for our 2nd year, we’ll continue along this path, but we’ll evolve the project to transform it into a patronage, with the Studio. We’re thinking bigger, richer, and we’ll be going even further in 2011, to give this power to more creators. Prepare to be amazed… ”
Over the course of 2011, with the help of VICE’s international offices, the Studio will bring together a vast network of creators and works available to millions of people. The Studio is a global virtual project designed to produce and distribute the work of artists from all disciplines. It will produce albums, artworks and !lms, while providing artists with the resources and
technology. The works will then be distributed by the Studio through international exhibitions, museums, concerts and digital platforms such as TheCreatorsProject.com. Participants will of course retain their copyright.
The Studio will be launched from April 15 to 17, at the Coachella festival. It will partner with major artists such as Interpol (US) and Animal Collective (US) (who collaborate with Black Dice) to transform their sets into technologically advanced multimedia visual experiences. The Studio will also be working again with United Visual Artists (UK) to redesign the Coachella festival’s main stage. Using a highly technological combination of integrated lighting, UVA’s iconic sculpture will unfold, reveal and evolve throughout the 3 days, creating a dynamic backdrop for the various live performances.
A selection of works from the Coachella Studio (US) will be on show at La Gaîté lyrique and Les Nuits Sonores.
The Studio will also be partnering renowned designer Hussein Chalayan (UK) and his Spring/Summer 2011 de!lé, which will take place during Paris Fashion Week in October. This partnership will feature the designer’s latest collection, reviewed on TheCreatorsProject.com.
